Artist Opportunities

Say you saw it on our website!
  • EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS

Media Arts Council, in collaboration with First Keystone Bank, Media, is offering artists the opportunity to exhibit their work in the State Street store front of First Keystone Bank for one month.

Interested artists should print out and complete the application here and submit it with a disk containing not less than four and not more than ten images of the work to be exhibited. Submissions will be reviewed by a jury panel, artists will be notified of the panel’s decision, and if selected will be assigned a month for an exhibition.

  • PROJECT – Illustrate the M.A.C. Logo

Yep! That's the one. That black and white logo up there at the top left. It really needs some color – some artistic influence that only you can provide.

The rules are pretty simple. Take the template provided at the link below and add to this composition your own artistic expression. There is no limit to the visuals you can use, mediums you choose, or even size as long as it:

    1. Can be easily identified as the M.A.C. Logo (it still needs to convey the core letters and tagline “media arts council”). The final file must be digital at a resolution of 300 dpi and no smaller than 2” wide. Feel free to make it large if that is more comfortable for you. The final mark is normally viewed at around 2” wide so make sure it looks and acts as you intend at that smaller size.

    2. Cannot be offensive or derogatory in any way. The Media Arts Council reserves the right to reject any submissions that “cross the line” in our collective opinion.

    3. Does not include any copyrighted or trademarked visuals, photography, artwork, logos, or anything for which the Media Arts Council will not have rights to reproduce in the future.

Remember the old MTV logo that changed and animated in a colorful and creative way each time you saw it? This is kind of the same thing. But also remember, the fundamental logo mark stays the same. The style of type for M.A.C., the rectangle around it and words below it should remain. The mark should still "read" the same and be legible from a distance as it is now (i.e. contrast is good. Try to keep that part.) Some inspiration.

All mediums are encouraged. So if you make sculpture out of trash, that works too. Just take a picture of it when you are done. (We are not accepting physical versions at this point, but may entertain these submissions for a final gallery exhibit, if appropriate.) We are especially looking to cover all of the major arts mediums such as: painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, animation, video, music, dance, theater, and, of course, sea shell art.

Official Template: Please use this file. (444 kb pdf)

Deadline: We hate deadlines. But, to move things along, please provide whatever you can by Wednesday, May 30th. We're hoping that this project will not take many of you long as your styles are well developed.

Submissions: Send all submissions to Chris Dietrich at mediaicons@mediaartscouncil.org.

  • File formats accepted:

  • Adobe pdf
  • Adobe Illustrator CS3 or lower
  • JPG
  • TIFF
  • PNG
  • EPS
  • For motion graphics, please use your best judgment on which format will be the most readily available for online display. Please do not use Intel Indeo Video. Keep a copy of any uncompressed originals in case we love it so much we want to make it our animated home page logo!

Final designs will also be featured on the M.A.C. blog, Facebook page, and other promotions where appropriate.

  • Questions: please email Chris Dietrich at the address above.
